Guinea
2018 | goaucheThis was a practice piece for painting in gouache and with large shapes. I chose the guinea as the subject since the patterning on its feathers makes it easy to want to go into detail too soon. Instead, I laid out large swaths of color and only put in details once satisfied with the underlying form. I'm still pleased with the vibrant, flat areas of color that pull the viewer in.
